Frequently Asked Questions
How much are union dues?
Dues are 1% of your base salary, and are used to negotiate and enforce your contract, provide legal representation, and advocate for faculty rights.
Isn't Florida a "Right-to-Work" state?
Yes. That means you are not forced to join, but the union is still legally required to negotiate for everyone in the bargaining unit. However, the University knows our membership numbers, and low membership weakens our bargaining power.
Will my membership be visible to administration?
The University receives your payroll deduction authorization. However, Florida law and our contract strictly prohibit any discrimination or retaliation based on union membership or activity.
Who can join UFF–Florida Poly?
All full-time and part-time faculty in the bargaining unit, including Assistant, Associate, and Full Professors, and Instructors, are eligible to join.
